Rev. James McCormack

Rev. James W. McCormack, Co-Pastor

I grew up in Pittsburgh, but Erie has been my home since 1978. I graduated from Penn State, Princeton Seminary and Columbia Seminary. My wife, Jule, is a counselor (part-time). Our older daughter does child-care and lives with her husband and family in Erie. Our younger daughter is engaged and is a high school teacher in Santa Rosa, CA . I enjoy golf, travel and reading.

Rev. James Moelk

Rev. James K. Moelk, Co-Pastor

After graduation from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in the Boston Area in 1985, my family and I moved here to Erie. Jaye and I have found Erie to be a great place to raise our three children, Janel, James and Jocelyn. I enjoy sports of all types, along with reading, archery hunting and finishing my log home. We have recently been blessed with two grandchildren, Katy and Gabriel.

James Black

James Black, Music Director

Who am I? I'm the kind of guy who gets excited about: an answered prayer; a song that speaks to my heart; eating breakfast or dinner in the back yard; reading the right verse at the right time; a hug from a friend; hearing someone sing with enthusiasm and purpose; playing ball with my boys; walking with Peg; being licked by Cocoa (husky); a family vacation in Maine with lots of laughs, lighthouses and lobster!

Peggy Thomson

Peggy Thomson, Administrative Assistant

I am a charter member of Church of the Cross and was the church secretary from its beginning until June of 1995. After spending some quality time with my grandchildren, I returned to COTC as the Admin. Ass't. in 2003. My husband, Richard, and I have two grown daughters, Cherish and Heather, and each of them has a child, Mackenzie and Zion, respectively--all of whom are the joys of my life. Because we have no other family in Erie, we feel blessed to be part of the wonderful church family here at COTC and count them as kin. I enjoy good Christian instrumental music, my cats and dog, working on craft projects, travel, and sewing.

Shawn Steiner

Shawn Steiner, Youth Pastor

I grew up in western Pennsylvania and attended Grove City College. After graduating with a degree in Christian Thought and a minor in Christian ministry, I worked in the college's Student Life office for a few years before coming to Church of the Cross in 2007, along with my wife, Kristin. I prefer Maxwell House over Starbucks, tea over coffee, and barbecued chicken or ribs over anything else. I enjoy bowhunting (make my own bows), flyfishing (tie my own flies), woodworking, leathercrafting, painting, and sculpting. I can play guitar, but not nearly as well as Kristin can sing. But most importantly, I love teenagers, and want to see them grow passionately in love with Jesus Christ. I want to see them change their generation for the glory of God.
